Thanks, Ann! It was really cool... On Saturday SF and I went up to the "mountain" and over the guardrail I spied a few deer on the way up. They were bedded down and when we came down I stopped and they were still there, only they were standing. DANG! I wanted to get them all mellow...

I remember stumbling across a herd of deer in the middle of the woods near my parents holiday caravan in the English lakes when I was a child. They stood and stared at me for maybe thirty seconds, turned and ran. I'd probably never experienced a group of beings acting 'as one' in such a way before.

Lovely photo.

Hubby and I live up in the country (as you know) and on our 750 acre farm, we've got a few families of deer who bed down in several spots here. In the morning when we eat breakfast, sometimes we can see up to 13 deer from ouf kitchen window. It's really spectacular. In the summer, we had a doe with her two fawns sleeping under our apple tree in our front yard. They are such beautiful creatures.

(If you come to the Island one day, you can take tons and tons of photos of the wildlife here! Then again, where you guys live, you probably have scenery equally as picturesque as we do!)
